COLOR AND SURFACE COLLIDE SHIFTING PERCEPTIONS
Alissa Massey is an artist based in Los Angeles, CA.
Alissa Massey (b. 1986) is an American artist whose work is an exploration of materiality and surface that challenges and shifts one’s perception of reality through painting. Serious material play lies at the root of her work, alongside a deep investigation of color material.
Her work explores the complexities of vision, perception, and the real while providing all the clues on the surface of the painting. Working with contrasting paint surfaces that either reflect or absorb light proposes a new shift for painting and for the light and space movement.
